Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.The Fiber Splicer is responsible for installing, splicing, testing, restoring, and maintaining fiber optic infrastructure throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. This role supports both planned construction projects and emergency restoration activities on aerial, underground, and indoor fiber networks.The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced metropolitan environment. Work will include nights, weekends, holidays, and participation in an on-call rotation supporting critical customer networks.Work Authorization Requirement: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization, such as OPT, TN, H1B or any other type of work visa, now or in the future.What You'll DoSplice and restore fiber optic cables including loose tube, ribbon, micro cable, Rapid cable, and other cable types.Perform fusion splicing on both dark fiber and active (lit) services.Install, turn up, test, provision, and troubleshoot SONET, WDM, Ethernet, and optical transport equipment.Conduct OTDR, Optical Power Meter, BER, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, and other fiber acceptance testing.Interpret splice diagrams, engineering drawings, and network documentation.Complete accurate splice records, test documentation, and electronic work reports.Coordinate with Zayo's Network Operations Center (NOC) for provisioning, testing, alarm validation, and service acceptance.Troubleshoot outages and respond to emergency restoration events while maintaining service level commitments.Perform site surveys and verify proper installation of cabinets, racks, power systems, fiber distribution equipment, and related infrastructure.Label and document all network assets according to engineering standards.Interface professionally with customers, municipalities, utilities, contractors, and permitting agencies.Support hardware and software upgrades at remote network locations.Follow all company safety policies, traffic control requirements, and California work zone regulations.Los Angeles Market Experience PreferredCandidates with experience working throughout the Greater Los Angeles region are highly valued, including familiarity with:Dense urban and downtown construction environmentsUtility coordination and joint-use infrastructureUnderground conduit systems and aerial distribution networksData center and carrier hotel connectivityEmergency fiber restoration in high-traffic metropolitan areasTraffic control and safe work practices on busy roadwaysWorking in varying weather conditions and extended travel throughout Southern CaliforniaMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate degree or equivalent technical experience preferredValid California Driver's License (or ability to obtain upon hire)Two to five (2–5) years of telecommunications experience in fiber splicing, installation, maintenance, or outside plant constructionExperience reading engineering prints and splice documentationAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency restorationPreferred QualificationsExperience with: OTDR, Optical Power Meter, BER Test Sets, Optical Spectrum AnalyzerSONET, WDM, Ethernet, MPLS, and IP transport networksFiber distribution panels, AC/DC power systems, rectifiers, and network equipment installationNetwork Management Systems (NMS)Bucket truck operation or aerial lift equipmentUtility locating and damage prevention practicesCalifornia traffic control standardsMilitary telecommunications experience is welcomed and highly valued.What Makes You SuccessfulStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsExcellent attention to detailCustomer-focused mindsetAbility to remain calm during network outage restorationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to safety and quality workmanshipPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 75 poundsAbility to climb ladders, work in aerial lifts, vaults, and confined spacesAbility to work outdoors for extended periodsAbility to travel throughout the Greater Los Angeles area as business needs requireCompensationEstimated hourly pay range: $25.76 – $39.61 per hourActual compensation is determined based on experience, certifications, geographic location, and overall qualifications.The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.The posting will be active for a minimum of 3 days.
