Hiring: Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) | Phoenix, AZ Pay Rate: $40.00/hour Full-Time | 37.5 Hours/Week | 10-Month Contract Start Date: August 31, 2026 A school district in the Phoenix, AZ area is seeking 2 Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) to support elementary-aged students in a school setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide 1:1 communication support for deaf or hard-of-hearing students in a general education classroom environment. Position Responsibilities Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers Support student participation in classroom instruction, activities, and discussions Maintain professional standards and confidentiality within the educational setting Minimum Requirements

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or related field preferred
• EIPA, RID Certification, or State Interpreter Certification (as applicable)
• Current CPR certification (if required)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Position Details Elementary School Setting 1:1 Student Assignment General Education Classroom Low Behavioral Support Needs Full-Time Schedule No Client Interview Required The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Often, American Sign Language (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction, activities and learning discussions.
