As a Bartender at Proper Grit, you are at the center of that experience. You craft thoughtfully balanced cocktails, guide guests through curated whisky selections, and create moments of genuine hospitality at the bar. With every pour, recommendation, and interaction, you bring knowledge, presence, and personality to an environment built on refinement and storytelling.

The Bartender position is about more than mixing drinks. It is about understanding flavor, anticipating guest preferences, and creating an atmosphere where every visit feels intentional and memorable. You move with precision and care, ensuring each beverage reflects the elevated standards and distinctive character of Proper Grit.

Responsibilities include crafting and serving cocktails, wine, and beer to the highest standards, providing knowledgeable beverage recommendations, maintaining speed and quality during high-volume service, ensuring accurate POS transactions, maintaining bar cleanliness, enforcing responsible alcohol service, assisting with menu development, and more.

Qualifications include bartending training and certification, minimum 23 years' experience bartending in fine-dining or upscale, high-volume hospitality environments, strong technical cocktail skills, TIPS certification, excellent communication and guest service skills, professional appearance, reliable attendance, and a team-first attitude.

Physical demands include lifting trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc. 20 -40 lbs, pushing carts, Queen Marys, hotbox, portable bar 50 -100 lbs, bending/kneeling, mobility, continuous standing, climbing approximately 12 steps 20% of 8 hours, no driving required, and the ability to perform multiple tasks at one time.

The environment is physically strenuous with prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and carrying throughout the entire shift.
