Nurse (GI Endoscopy)

Job Title

Job duties include:

• Executing position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex procedural care
• Assuming responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of patient care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction
• Collaborating in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines
• Delivering and managing the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy procedures including both inpatients and outpatients
• Assessing the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educating on procedural and post-procedural care, and documenting responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes
• Evaluating outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations
• Functioning in several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting physicians during procedures
• Maintaining proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of endoscopy specific equipment
• Recognizing changes in patient care situations and initiating appropriate emergency situations
• Adapting to changes in the daily schedule
• May be assigned call in which the Endoscopy RN will follow all facility policies regarding response time

Work schedule: 7:30a - 4p with limited rotation to 8:30a - 5p. Position has mandatory on-call expectations; must be able to arrive at VA within 60 minutes or less.
