General Oncologist

Oncologist - Department Of Veterans Affairs (Va) Syracuse, Ny

The Va Syracuse Healthcare System is seeking two board certified general oncologists to provide comprehensive oncology services to eligible veterans. The selected physicians will deliver high-quality care that meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards, comparable to those found in top civilian medical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Deliver expert oncology care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Evaluate, prioritize, and manage referrals from primary care and other departments for oncology consultations.
• Patient Management: Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and order relevant diagnostic tests. Develop and implement treatment plans, coordinating care with primary care providers and other members of the healthcare team.
• Collaborative Care: Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care for patients. Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes.
• Administrative Duties: Participate in administrative tasks such as peer reviews, ongoing professional practice evaluations, and other assigned duties.
• On-Call Services: Provide on-call coverage as needed to ensure continuous oncology care.

Qualifications

• Board Certification: Must be board certified by the american board of internal medicine in medical oncology.
• Licensure: Must hold a valid medical license in any state or the district of columbia.
• Certifications: Must have current certifications in basic life support (bls) and advanced cardiac life support (acls) or equivalent. All necessary continuing education to maintain these certifications must be up to date.
• Experience: Previous experience in providing oncology services in a clinical setting is preferred.
