Server Position At Joseph-Beth Booksellers Bronte Bistro

Founded in Lexington in November 1986, Joseph Beth Booksellers operates as a general-interest bookstore hosting public events, Storytimes, author signings, and community programs. Joseph-Beth Booksellers is a community bookstore and restaurant organization featuring two store locations in Cincinnati, Ohio (Rookwood Pavilion) and Lexington, Kentucky (The Mall at Lexington Green). In October 2026, Barnes & Noble acquired Joseph-Beth Booksellers' two remaining storefronts and bistros. Joseph-Beth Booksellers will continue to preserve its independent identity, which has made it so special within the bookselling landscape for the last 40 years. As a Server, we expect that you will bring your excellent guest service skills to this job to delight each guest who comes to dine at Bronte Bistro. This position reports to the Front of House Manager.

Essential Functions:

• Ensures beverage and food orders are delivered.
• Ensures that side work is completed for each shift.
• Ensures guest satisfaction at every table and bar.
• Responds quickly to guest requests.
• Reports any guest concerns to the manager immediately.
• Assists in bussing and resetting tables.
• Assists in welcoming guests and seating them as needed.
• Completes all side work as assigned.
• Complies with all state and county health codes for food handling.
• Attends all in-services training and pre-shift meetings.
• Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
• Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all guests and co-workers.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures of JB Retail Collective.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Spend the majority of time in all areas of the restaurant, which requires physical activity (i.e., prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing and lifting up to 30 pounds)
• Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays to align with restaurant needs.
• Strong communication skills
• Minimum of 20 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• 1 year(s) experience in a restaurant setting or equivalent preferred
• Food Safety handling certificate
