Temporary Facilities Specialist

Facilities Student Worker

The Facilities Student Worker will provide temporary support to the Facilities team with a campus-wide building space inventory project, as well as related facilities, administrative, and office tasks. Under the direction of the Director of Operations, Director of Facilities, Design & Construction, or their designee, the student worker will assist with gathering, documenting, and organizing information about campus buildings and spaces. This is a 100% in-person position. The student worker will be expected to walk independently throughout campus and enter various buildings and spaces as needed to complete assigned inventory activities. Additional facilities-related duties may be assigned based on project needs. This is a limited term position.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a campus-wide inventory of building spaces and facilities.
• Walk independently throughout campus to visit assigned buildings and spaces.
• Gather and record information about building spaces accurately and consistently.
• Assist with organizing, reviewing, and maintaining inventory information and related records.
• Perform general office, administrative, and facilities-related tasks as assigned.
• Assist with facilities projects and other operational activities as directed.
• Communicate questions, observations, or issues to the appropriate Facilities staff member.
• Follow established procedures and instructions while working independently on assigned tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, Director of Facilities, Design & Construction, or their designee.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a student at the institution. Ability to work 100% in person and independently navigate campus. Ability to walk throughout campus and visit multiple buildings and spaces during the workday. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately collect and record information. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete assigned tasks independently. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar applications. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the Facilities team and campus community. Dependable, responsible, and able to maintain a professional approach to assigned work. Prior facilities, administrative, inventory, or office experience is helpful but not required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Ability to walk throughout campus and travel between multiple buildings during the workday.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting building and space inventories.
• Ability to navigate a variety of campus environments, including office spaces, common areas, hallways, and other building spaces.
• May occasionally encounter stairs, uneven surfaces, varying temperatures, noise, dust, or other conditions typical of campus facilities and building environments.
• Ability to work safely and follow applicable campus safety procedures while visiting and documenting building spaces.
• Work may involve a combination of walking, standing, and desk-based computer or administrative tasks.

Salary

USD $17.00/Hr.
