Job Summary
Responsible for performing commercial and industrial painting on facility structures, production equipment, floors, walls, machinery, and other plant assets. This role helps maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment while protecting equipment and facilities through proper surface preparation, painting, and finishing techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, pressure washing, masking, and patching.
- Apply primers, industrial coatings, paints, and protective finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Paint equipment, machinery, floors, walls, ceilings, guardrails, safety markings, and facility structures.
- Perform touch-up work and repair damaged painted surfaces.
- Ensure high-quality finishes and proper coating application.
- Safely mix, handle, store, and dispose of paint materials and chemicals.
- Assist with general facility maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Perform minor repairs and facility improvement projects.
- Maintain painting tools, spray equipment, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Report facility issues and recommend improvements to equipment appearance and longevity.
- Follow OSHA regulations and workplace safety procedures.
- Properly use PPE, respirators, fall protection, lifts, and other safety equipment.
- Maintain accurate work practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure work areas remain hazard-free and organized.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3+ years of commercial, industrial, or facility painting experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or industrial environment experience preferred.
- Experience with spray painting equipment and industrial coatings.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, coating application, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to operate ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and common maintenance tools.
- Ability to read work instructions, specifications, and safety documentation.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures, dust, noise, and paint-fume environments.
- Ability to wear required PPE and distinguish colors for coating quality and coverage inspections.
