Requirements:
- Two (2) years of professional work experience in one or more of the following areas: criminal justice, military intelligence, law enforcement, conducting research/interviews, data analysis, investigations, and administrative assistant/executive assistant. A post-secondary degree from an accredited university/college may be used as an alternative for the years of professional work experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Note: Professional work experience” generally includes roles with administrative, supervisory, analytical, or operational responsibilities in structured or corporate settings. Entry-level roles in the service or retail industry (e.g., McDonald’s, Publix) typically do not qualify.
- VALID Driver’s License from the Department of Safety and Motor Vehicles.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Preference:
- Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal and written skills that meet the critical needs of the agency’s mission.
- Active Florida Crime Information Center or National Crime Center certificate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of record writing techniques.
- Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of the procedures and techniques for effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data.
- Ability to review large amounts of criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness and usefulness of the data.
- Ability to write reports, investigative summaries and memoranda resulting from information analysis.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to report information clearly, concisely and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

- Knowledge of the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal procedures

WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS?
Selection is a three-to-six-month process where the successful applicants MUST PASS the Oral Interview and Written Exam, CJSTC background prior to beginning.
If selected for an interview, interview will be conducted in person.

The starting annual salary for this position is $39,000.00. A CAD (Competitive Area Differential) of $1,268.76 will apply only to those applying for positions in the following counties Palm Beach, Broward and Dade.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.
- Performs criminal history and intelligence checks with reference to investigations for all sworn personnel as directed.
- Requests and receives information of a confidential nature. Communicate clearly and effectively orally, in writing, by radio and telephone.
- Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and utilizes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies. Coordinates inter-state and intra-state information pertaining to criminal activity involving insurance fraud and arson, and exercises judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated. Evaluates and analyzes criminal intelligence information to predict the capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities individuals and groups of individuals engaged in insurance fraud and recommends investigative strategies.
- Independently prepares oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities in case development. Determine structure and operation of insurance/arson operations by thoroughly researching and analyzing intelligence information relating to patterns, trends, and movements of the groups for use by management.
- Participates in search warrants by sketching site diagram, logging evidence, printing evidence labels and inventory lists.
- Serves as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for FCIC/NCIC terminal, ensuring proper procedures are followed regarding security and dissemination of criminal history information. Must obtain and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification. Serve as resource person and respond to requests for information from other agencies and represent the Division in meetings. This position may require participation on the disaster team, overtime, and the ability to attend meetings, training, conferences and seminars, which may require extended travel to other areas.
- Directly supports and assists investigators in the compilation and analysis of confidential information regarding arson and/or insurance fraud investigations and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information. Prepare graphs and charts for visual presentation of data. Proficient in use of personal computers.
- Performs independent work on complex insurance fraud/arson investigations and analytical projects related to insurance fraud and arson. Independently conducts detailed research in the compilation, analysis, and dissemination of information and criminal intelligence.
- Completes requests for research, statistics, and written reports on crime analysis, administrative and planning analysis, intelligence and investigative analysis for various venues of presentation and publication. Analyzes data gathered and develops solutions or alternative methods of proceeding. Performs research projects and analyses. Participates in the formal and informal training and/or in-service training of new analysts (CIA I) and assists in their on-the-job development.
