Position Type: Permanent Full Time Duration: DirectTechnical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of our client, a manufacturer based in the Pittsburgh area. As a Mechanical Engineer you will do a variety of technical duties. You will be responsible for the mechanical design and drafting of customer specific capital equipment orders. In addition, you will design tooling fixtures for our client's technologies. Another aspect of this role is the creating of BOM's as well as supporting other functions of the business such as purchasing and aftermarket departments. Key ResponsibilitiesCapital Equipment Design/Drafting (70%)Create machine designs in SolidWorks and Pro E. Create and maintain accurate change logs and issue logs during machine build process. Follow company ECN process to correct design issues.Support capital equipment machine start-up and debug/trouble shooting during all phases of the build.Convert Standard machine designs from SolidWorks and Pro E.Support purchasing by communicating with vendors to ensure designs are manufactured as efficiently as possible. Candidate will also support purchasing with technical details as necessary. Properly and safely maintain machine designs while working with proprietary data.Tooling/Fixture Design (10%)Designs tooling for various client technologies.Communicates with Project Management to ensure all customer expectations are considered in design phase.Maintains accurate records of tooling designs.Support Standard Products - Global Standardization (10%)Work with global teammates on special engineering projects to improve design and fabrication of various machines built at their sites.Will work on reviewing different product families to help establish a more standard component list to help drive Product Standardization.Aftermarket Support (5%)Work with aftermarket sales team to aid in customer part/information requests for onsite machine issues.Local Team Support (5%)As determined by site leadership and team lead. Job RequirementsQualificationsKnowledge and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experienceMinimum of five (5) years' 3D modeling experience with SolidWorks and Pro-EngineerMinimum of five (5) years' 2D drafting experience with SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, and AutoCADHands-on experience running machines and designing / assembling fixtures preferredProficient Microsoft Office Applications, including Word and ExcelGood written & oral communication skillsExcellent organization skills / ability to multi-taskKnowledge of SAP a plus Works well in a group / team environmentKnowledge of various fabrication processes (i.e., machining, sheet metal, welding, etc.)Core CompetenciesUtilizes SolidWorks and its features in a fast, efficient mannerCritical thinker and disciplined problem-solver with the ability to analyze and make practical judgementsIndependent, highly motivated, mentally flexible and resilient personalityDelivers results and ensures accountabilityEthics & IntegritySense of urgency/proactivityEngages others through communication both written and verbalAdaptable to work with various cultures from various parts of the worldCross-Functional collaborationTechnical Solutions Inc. provides a wide range of staffing services throughout Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
