Physical Therapist
Overview
Provides patient/resident assessment, care planning, direct treatment and consultation to a general rehab caseload. Participates in the clinical interdisciplinary team process. Provides teaching and training to care giver staff. Involvement in clinical program development. Supervises other licensed therapists, assistants, technicians, aides and students as required. In Programs with two or more physical therapists/assistants may provide additional administrative duties as assigned.

- Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position.
- Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions, (word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Able to supervise, instructs and motivates others.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills; oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize independent and effective clinical judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Utilizes effective time management skills.
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree, in Physical Therapy. One year of clinical experience required Ability to function effectively in multi-faceted systems and to interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers.
- Current licensure in the state of hire by the Board of Allied Health Professionals required. Current membership in professional organizations at the state and national level preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the public. Ability to prepare accurate and timely reporting of travel expenses, automobile mileage records, monthly reports, and calendars.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical process control tools and budgets. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read and interpret financial reports and statistical charts and graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define and solve problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in statistical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Care and Services:
- Screens patients/residents.
- Evaluates patients/residents and develops appropriate care plans.
- May perform additional assigned administrative duties such as: assigning and overseeing patient/resident care activities, medical record oversight, assuring execution of physician orders, ordering supplies, etc.
- Under a physician’s order, provides direct patient/resident treatment in accordance with an established plan of care. Treatment venue includes one-on-one, supervised and groups.
- Contributes to the team meeting and decision-making process as defined by the program.
- Provides consultation and training to patients, residents, families, and caregivers.
- Monitors efficiencies on an ongoing basis in collaboration with supervisor.
- Documents activities according to the company’s clinical documentation system on a timely basis.
- Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare, PPS, Managed Care and other reimbursement regulations.
- Communicates effectively with patient/residents, families, caregivers, team members, customer and supervisor.
- Promotes positive customer relations.
- Provides appropriate consultation to the facility.
- Participates in clinical program development and implementation.
- Participates in the training and orientation of other staff.
- Participates in the interview process for news staff.
- Participates in census building and marketing activities.
- Demonstrates an ability for continuous new learning to remain current in the field.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
- Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the department.
- Exhibits courtesy, compassion and respect to patients, residents, families, caregiver, visitors, physicians, administrators and co-workers.
- Performs other duties or functions as directed by the Administrators and Programs Manager.

Information Management: Enters or records data timely and accurately, protects confidentiality of sensitive information; protects data against loss or destruction; logs onto the system using own password; logs off the system when leaving the work station; reports suspected violation of security/confidentiality issues; reviews data and identifies trends.
Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates active listening techniques; gains support through effective relationships; treats others with dignity and respect; seeks feedback; sets clear standards for performance; evaluates job performance and provides effective feedback; establishes systems to measure effectiveness, efficiency, and service; creates and maintains reporting mechanisms.
Continuing Education: Attends in-service and education programs; attends continuing education required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here representative those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasional overnight travel may be required for attendance at Regional Meetings, training, etc. Light to moderate travel to other sites may be required. Occasional physical effort with medium to heavy objects. Transferring patients weighing between 100 to 250 lbs is occasionally required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
