About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-Surg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Must-Have: Experience with patient ratios of 1:9 Description: This unit has a total of 34 beds. The staffing ratio is 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT per 9 patients. Float requirements may include other med-surge units. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend or 4 shifts per month. The unit primarily cares for surgical patients, including joint replacements and general surgeries. Medical patients requiring telemetry care are also included. The age range of patients treated spans from adolescents to the elderly. Special procedures and equipment include wall suction for patients needing suction assistance. Care delivery on the unit operates with a modified team approach if full teams are unavailable. Skills required include various nursing procedures, management of dysrhythmias, IV insertion and management, and wound care. Interdisciplinary support is available from various specialized teams.
