Shift Details

• Day Shift: 5x8-Hour (07:00 - 15:30)
• Mid Shift: 5x8-Hour (15:00 - 23:00)

Position Overview

This role involves working in a 12-bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), primarily utilizing 4-6 bays for phase 1 recovery of general surgery patients and procedural patients receiving general anesthesia and deep sedation. The position includes floating to the perioperative area as needed for staffing, which encompasses pre-procedure and phase 2 recovery of moderate sedation patients from Interventional Radiology, Gastroenterology, and Surgical Departments. Admission and discharge responsibilities for same-day procedures are also included.

Qualifications

• Current California Registered Nurse License is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role is required.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
• Previous charge experience is required.
• Experience with the Epic charting system is required.
• Experience in Trauma Level I and II facilities is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
• Airway assessment and management
• Post-anesthesia care, including Phase I and II recovery
• Ability to administer and monitor procedural sedation
• Management of ventilated patients
• Proficiency in various surgical and procedural recovery protocols
• Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Management of pediatric patients and adult patients across various diagnoses

Unit Details

• Staffing Type: Interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy.
• Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics.
• Daily Census: Approximately 20 patients.
• Number of Beds: 130.

Important Information

• Schedule may vary; on-call and weekend shifts may be required.
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off is allowed per contract.
• Mandatory completion of onboarding labs within 3-5 days of contract signing.
• Work history verification for the past 7 years is required.
