Academic Hospitalist Physician
Locations: Various UPMC Facilities in Pittsburgh, PA
Position Overview
Our organization is on the lookout for Board Eligible or Board-Certified Internal Medicine physicians to enhance our vibrant and expanding academic hospitalist programs at several UPMC locations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In this role, physicians will deliver comprehensive inpatient care, overseeing patients from the moment of admission until discharge. Responsibilities include conducting thorough histories and physical examinations, crafting and executing evidence-based treatment strategies, and coordinating care to maximize patient outcomes. Hospitalists will focus on improving patient health and efficiently managing length of stay through high-quality medical practices.
Collaboration is key, as physicians will work within a multidisciplinary team that includes other hospitalists, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Residents, and Fellows, promoting a cooperative approach to patient care.
The typical schedule consists of a 7-on/7-off rotation with 12-hour shifts, offering both day and night positions. The Section of Hospital Medicine includes 92 board-certified physicians and 25 Advanced Practice Providers across three hospital medicine programs, delivering exceptional inpatient care at four UPMC hospitals:

- UPMC Shadyside
- UPMC Mercy
- Magee-Women's Hospital
