Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum position requiring 2 years of experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

Standard Mother-Baby unit providing family-centered care for postpartum mothers, newborn infants, and obstetric patients requiring antenatal monitoring.

Cares for patients following vaginal and cesarean births, late preterm and term newborns, and infants requiring extended observation or specialized neonatal care.

18 staffed beds with a patient ratio of 1:3-4 couplets.

Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30), various days of the week.

Weekend requirements per unit needs: 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays per 6-week schedule.

No on-call requirements.

Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities within the North Region as needed.

Charting completed in Epic.

Navy blue scrub color required.

Requirements

Active CO or compact RN license required.

BLS and NRP (AHA) certifications required.

AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, and CLC certifications preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience required.

Epic charting experience required.

Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred.

Skills required include IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC), and starting/maintaining IVs.

Experience with antepartum, high-risk antepartum, Level 1 nursery, postpartum, and Special Care Nursery/Level II settings.

Experience administering medications such as antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin.

Skilled in newborn care including cord care, discharge teaching, infant identification, IV antibiotics, metabolic screening, neonatal abstinence syndrome care, newborn assessment, phototherapy, and thermoregulation.

Skilled in postpartum care including bladder assessment/Foley catheter insertion, breast engorgement management, breastfeeding instruction, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and couplet care.

Experience with postpartum care of cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and vaginal delivery patients.

Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration.

Experience with pain management including opioids, pain assessment, post-epidural management, and use of PCA (IV).

Additional Information

Provide comprehensive care to postpartum mothers and newborns with a focus on maternal recovery, newborn well-being, patient education, and safe transition to home.

Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with RTO restricted during select high-census periods.

Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate for those residing within 75 miles of the facility.

Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates, or who applied to UCHealth internal travel/perm positions within the last two years, will not be considered.

Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking.

Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of the assignment.
