Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Emergency Room setting, including trauma, burn, and stroke patients across a range of severity levels
• Manage a patient assignment of 3–4 patients, with flexibility to adjust based on department volumes; Rapid Medical Evaluation area assignments may include up to 6 patients
• Administer and monitor all common emergency department drips and medications
• Collaborate with ER techs, charge nurses, and respiratory therapy staff to deliver coordinated, multidisciplinary patient care
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
• Adhere to department scheduling requirements including rotating weekends and alternating holidays

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Minimum certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Experience in an emergency room or acute care nursing setting
• Ability to pass a drug screen; position is located on a drug-free campus
• Comfort caring for a diverse patient population including geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients with varying acuity and co-morbidities

Preferred Experience / Skills

• TNCC or TNS certification preferred
• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center, burn center, or comprehensive stroke center environment
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health records
