Travel RN – Medical Surgical Neurosciences (Night Shift)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 weeks, up to 26 weeks upon request) | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Expected 36 hours/week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans for medical and surgical neuroscience patients, including those with Parkinson's disease, stroke, and lumbar conditions (no trauma)
• Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions; recognize adverse signs and symptoms and respond appropriately in emergency situations
• Administer medications, wound care, and IV therapy, including care for central lines, while monitoring for reactions or side effects
• Document patient care services accurately using EPIC EMR
• Assume or support charge nurse duties as needed; provide appropriate supervision and delegation to unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff
• Float to Med Surg and Progressive units per customary float requirements; attend Neuroscience Nursing course as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Missouri
• BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (may be completed at orientation)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Charge nurse experience, or willingness to learn and take on charge duties
• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 – April 1 (exemptions must be client approved)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Neuroscience and stroke nursing experience highly preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR
• Strong team collaboration and communication skills with a focus on patient outcomes
