The Quality Assurance Technician inspects products and monitors processes to ensure that quality standards are consistently met throughout the manufacturing operation. This role works closely with production, engineering, suppliers, and customers to identify and resolve quality issues. The technician performs inspections, supports audits, investigates product defects, and helps implement corrective actions and process improvements. Using measurement tools and engineering drawings, this position verifies product quality while actively contributing to a safe, efficient, and quality-focused work environment.
Responsibilities

• Inspect products at various stages of the manufacturing process to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications.
• Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances against engineering drawings.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Identify nonconforming products and processes, document findings, and communicate issues clearly to production and engineering teams.
• Support internal and external quality audits by preparing documentation, records, and evidence of compliance with ISO 9001 and other quality standards.
• Investigate product defects and quality issues, collect and analyze data, and assist in determining root causes.
• Participate in the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to address quality problems and prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with production personnel to ensure consistent application of quality procedures and standards on the shop floor.
• Work with suppliers and customers as needed to address quality concerns and ensure that requirements are clearly understood and met.
• Maintain accurate and timely quality records, inspection reports, and documentation within quality management systems.
• Use Microsoft Office and quality management software to record data, prepare reports, and track quality metrics.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction.
• Promote and follow safety and quality policies, ensuring that all work supports a safe, clean, and quality-focused production environment.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of quality assurance or manufacturing experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in quality assurance, quality control, audits, inspections, and manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards and their application in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Experience working with metals in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate defects and identify root causes.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with production, engineering, suppliers, and customers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using quality management systems to document and track quality activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication, wire forming, or similar manufacturing processes is preferred.
• Familiarity with hand tools used in metal and manufacturing environments.
• Experience working within ISO 9001-certified or similar quality management frameworks.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Capability to handle multiple tasks and priorities while adhering to quality and safety standards.

Work Environment
The Quality Assurance Technician works in a production environment that requires safety glasses and safety-toe shoes to be worn at all times. The workspace includes exposure to temperature variations ranging from approximately 45\u00B0F to 110\u00B0F, as well as fumes, solvents, and dust, with occasional handling of hazardous chemicals or oils. The role involves frequent lifting of boxes weighing up to 55 pounds from the floor to table or pallet heights, continuous standing and walking throughout an 8-hour shift, and pushing or pulling stacks of parts weighing up to 200 pounds over distances of up to 100 feet. Employees regularly bend, squat, twist, and stoop during product handling tasks, and frequent wrist manipulation is required for inserting and removing parts from machinery. This environment is best suited for individuals who are comfortable with physical work, industrial settings, and consistent adherence to safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cherry Valley, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
