The Radiology Specialist Assistant provides patient care services in accordance with approved delineation of privileges under the supervision of a physician.

This role delivers age-appropriate care across the lifespan and supports the continuum of care through clinical expertise, patient assessment, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide medical services to patients within scope of practice and assigned privileges
• Perform patient assessments using age-specific growth and development principles
• Deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care
• Assist supervising physician with radiologic procedures and patient management
• Maintain patient flow and organize clinical workload effectively
• Provide guidance and direction to clinical staff involved in patient care
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations
• Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
• Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI)
• Perform fluoroscopic procedures, including barium studies (e.g., upper GI series, small bowel follow-through, and enemas)
• Perform joint injections under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance
• Conduct paracentesis and thoracentesis procedures, including patient preparation, imaging guidance, and post-procedure monitoring
• Place abscess drains using ultrasound or CT guidance, ensuring sterile technique and accurate positioning
• Perform bone marrow biopsies, including site preparation and specimen collection
• Perform biopsies with ultrasound and CT guidance for various tissues and organs, adhering to protocols for minimizing complications
