Overview:

St. Mary's is seeking a compassionate and motivated Fitness Coach to join our growing team and help support the health, wellness, and independence of the individuals we serve. The Fitness Coach plans, implements, and supervises individualized and group fitness programs for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Adapting exercises to meet physical, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
• Providing instruction and supervision during exercise sessions.
• Monitoring participant safety, vital signs, and equipment use.
• Maintaining accurate documentation of progress and incidents. The role collaborates with nursing, therapy, and direct care staff to support mobility, wellness, independence, and overall health.
• Additional duties include assisting with wellness initiatives, staff training, and recreational fitness activities.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field preferred. Experience with developmental disabilities and adaptive fitness preferred. CPR/First Aid and personal training certifications preferred.

Skills & Requirements: Knowledge of adaptive exercise techniques, strong communication skills, ability to motivate individuals of varying abilities, basic computer skills, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
