Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with a Pre-K 4 student, ensuring accessible communication and personalized support. Set in a collaborative school environment near Portales, NM, this part-time position averages around 24 hours per week for the 2026-2027 school year.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families.
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability to support young learners’ varying needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a Pre-K 4 student, facilitating communication between the student, peers, and educators.
- Ensure that classroom instructions, activities, and social interactions are accessible in real-time.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt instructional materials as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Monitor the student’s progress and contribute to developing a supportive, inclusive environment.
