Job Summary The occupational therapist assesses, plans, organizes and participates in rehabilitative programs that help restore or improve function in activities of daily living, functional mobility, cognitive tasks, strength, coordination and range of motion in patients suffering from disease or injury. Services are provided across the full continuum and rendered in a cost‑conscious, quality‑focused and customer‑oriented manner. Compliance with all applicable regulatory standards is required. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Implements the occupational therapy treatment plan, selects appropriate activities, revises goals/plan with patient/family input, provides education and training, supplies discharge instructions, follow‑up and referrals, and acts as referral source for staff, families and physicians. Collaborates with physician to establish and evaluate treatment programs, plan of care, goals and discharge plans, and creates realistic discharge plans incorporating patient and family goals. Documents evaluation and plan of care, records each treatment session, and completes required family education, discharge and other documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines. Adheres to ethical business practices, embraces diversity, maintains confidentiality, observes attendance and punctuality, follows dress code and ID badge policy, communicates effectively in writing and verbally, attends staff meetings and other required meetings, organizes workload, utilizes materials safely, and observes infection prevention precautions. Applies AIDET principles, encourages a positive environment, treats patients and coworkers with respect, fosters teamwork with trust and collaboration, and demonstrates service recovery principles. Participates in professional development and mandatory education, completes core and annual competencies, maintains licensure, participates in orientation and training of new employees, and fulfills all hospital or system mandatory requirements. Required Minimum Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications Occupational Therapist (OT) Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS (ARC‑BLS) or BLS Instructor (BLS‑I) Required Minimum Skills Effective communication, customer‑service focus, team orientation, and basic computer skills.
