The role As a Freight Broker, you will source, negotiate, and secure carriers to move available freight in a timely and cost-effective manner. You’ll also work on projects related to handling pricing and capacity for specialized moves. On our team, you’ll have the support to excel at work and the opportunity to build a rewarding career. What your day-to-day will look like: Cultivate strong core carrier relationships while negotiating and securing carriers to move freight Maintain continuous communication with carriers and customers to ensure a high-quality freight movement process Ensure all parties are informed of route changes, delays, freight concerns or other issues as necessary Schedule pickup and delivery appointment times; use discretion and insight when considering all factors affecting timeframe, including weather, traffic, etc. Follow established procedures and protocols regarding HVS and HRC loads to ensure the integrity of the shipment and the brand Accurately maintain and update information in the company’s operating systems Conduct research in available databases for potential leads; make cold calls to prospects Track back-end billing and invoicing to ensure that carrier charges are accurate What you’ll need to excel We’re looking for someone with energy, drive, and the confidence to jump in and make things happen. You’ll do well in this role if you Bring high energy and a strong sense of urgency to your work Are motivated by money, growth, and results Aren’t afraid to pick up the phone, start conversations, and build relationships Have strong negotiation and communication skills Enjoy solving problems and thinking quickly on your feet Can work early morning shifts, with start times ranging from 5AM to 7AM Bonus Points If You Have Experience in transportation or logistics Experience coordinating over-dimensional or heavy-haul loads A background in sales, account management, or customer service Proven success negotiating rates, timelines, or customer solutions The details Location: The team has recently relocated to a new office in the West End, St. Louis Park Area Schedule: Shifts are either 7am to 4pm or 8am to 5pm depending on the account assigned, with flexibility based on preference.
