Sign-On Bonus: $14,000 with a 2-year commitment

Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist I to provide high-quality, patient-centered occupational therapy services in an acute care setting with outpatient responsibilities.
The Occupational Therapist will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, monitor patient progress, and coordinate care in accordance with occupational therapy standards, physician orders, and applicable policies and regulations.
This position also provides clinical supervision and direction to Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides, and students as appropriate.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive formal and informal patient evaluations to assess skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive function.
Develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient needs, and tolerance.
Establish treatment schedules, including appropriate frequency and duration, in collaboration with patients, families, caregivers, and clinical support staff.
Submit treatment plans for physician authorization and coordination.
Update plans of care as patient conditions change.
Co-sign verbal orders received from Occupational Therapy Assistants when required.
Provide supervision and clinical guidance to Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides, home health aides, and students in accordance with applicable standards.
Provide therapeutic interventions designed to restore or maximize patient function and independence.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and the rationale for recommended interventions.
Develop and provide individualized home education programs.
Recommend adaptive and supportive equipment based on patient assessments and assist with obtaining appropriate equipment.
Monitor and document patient responses to treatment and changes in condition.
Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation required for billing and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate patient care with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Participate in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings.
Function as a case manager for assigned patients when appropriate.
Participate in process improvement and program development initiatives.
Provide education and professional development to staff, students, and other healthcare providers.
Promote occupational therapy services within the organization and community.
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and commitment to quality patient care.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy — Required.
Occupational Therapist (OTR) licensure — Required.
NBCOT certification — Required.
Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to demonstrate and teach appropriate treatment techniques to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
More than 1 year of occupational therapy experience preferred; qualified new graduates will be considered.
Acute care occupational therapy experience preferred.
Outpatient occupational therapy experience is a plus.
AOTA membership preferred.
Familiarity with current evidence-based occupational therapy practices.
Certifications & Licensure
NBCOT Certification — Required
Occupational Therapist (OTR) License — Required
BLS – Basic Life Support — Highly Preferred; must be obtained within 1 month of hire or transfer
Physical & Work Environment
This position requires working in a healthcare environment where employees may encounter stressful situations, trauma, grief, communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials.
The Occupational Therapist must be able to:
Move throughout the facility independently or with an appropriate assistive device.
Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Frequently change positions, including stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Perform activities involving reaching, grasping, handling, fingering, and feeling.
Safely use required personal protective equipment.
Lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and approximately 20 pounds frequently.
Manage multiple tasks while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation when applicable.
