Summary The Med Technologist performs a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests ranging from waived to high complexity testing, and procedures in one or more sections of the Clinical Laboratory. The Tech participates in quality control, CAP surveys, methods/procedures development, and equipment inspections, calibrations and maintenance. Responsibilities Investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow. May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments. May perform teaching of Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents and training of new employees. May serve as a technical resource. Performs quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory. Performs routine and less standardized test procedures which includes special chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests and reactions and provides data. Prepares specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required. Reports results to healthcare providers. Consults/confers with health care providers regarding test results. Reviews test results to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction of errors. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a science related to clinical medicine. Registry (or eligibility) as a Medical Technologist via ASCP or NCA. #J-18808-Ljbffr
