Registered Nurse NSICU

Position Overview Mission Health, a leading healthcare provider based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU). In this high-acuity environment, the Registered Nurse delivers advanced, patient-centered care to critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients, including those with stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and complex post-operative conditions. The NSICU nurse performs comprehensive neurological and physical assessments, closely monitors hemodynamic and respiratory status, manages ventilators and invasive lines, and administers medications and therapies in accordance with evidence-based protocols and physician orders. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive neurological and physical assessments. Closely monitor hemodynamic and respiratory status. Manage ventilators and invasive lines. Administer medications and therapies according to evidence-based protocols and physician orders. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, rehabilitation specialists, and case managers to develop and implement individualized plans of care. Recognize subtle changes in patient condition and respond rapidly to emergencies, including participation in codes and stroke alerts. Provide clear, compassionate communication and education to patients and families. Document safely and accurately in the electronic health record. Adhere to infection-prevention and patient-safety standards and hospital policies and clinical guidelines.
