Nurse Supervisor

The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care for the unit. Supervises staff and functions while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing Human Resources functions; directing patient care activities; implementing workplace changes; monitoring unit budgets; and participating on performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

• Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements
• Minimum 4 years recent clinical nurse experience in Perinatal Nursing within the last 2 years
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
• Completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 6 months of hire
• Complete understanding of patient classification system & staffing requirements for the patient population
• Basic Fetal Monitoring Course Completion (Class certificate)
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program
• Basic Life Support
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Education:

• Bachelor of Science, Nursing
