Accountant

Thank you for your interest in working with us! We are currently looking for a full-time Staff Accountant to join our team! As a member of our finance team, you’ll manage essential day-to-day accounting functions and help keep our financial systems running smoothly. Working closely with the Financial Controller and three other accountants, you’ll ensure that transactions—from tenant payments to vendor invoices—are accurate, timely, and handled with integrity. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with numbers, systems, and processes and wants to use their accounting skills to support affordable housing in Central Vermont. Key Responsibilities Manage accounts receivable, including tenant payments and security deposits. Process invoices and payables through Bill.com, ensuring accurate coding and compliance with policies. Perform monthly account reconciliations and prepare journal entries for cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and accruals. Maintain accurate records in Sage Intacct, integrated with Yardi and Fortress property management systems. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and support annual audits. Support special projects and help identify ways to streamline and improve accounting operations. Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered. At least two years of accounting experience; experience in nonprofit or property management accounting is a plus. Proficiency with accounting and property management software; experience with Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Yardi, or Fortress is highly valued. Strong Excel skills, close attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy. Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple deadlines. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000, dependent on experience.
