Senior Real Estate Loan Servicing Specialist

Senior Real Estate Loan Servicing Specialist works with Members to help them with their financial difficulties and analyzes each member collection situation. Responsible for the entire foreclosure process, including dispositioning OREOs. Plays a major part on the merger team and solves complex issues in innovative ways. This position is based in Anaheim Hills, CA, and is offered on a hybrid-remote schedule: 2 days in office and 3 days remote from home. Business Hours Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (may require flexible hours based on business needs). Responsibilities Makes collection phone calls, counsels Members with credit problems, documents, sends letters, and follows up within assigned queues. Compiles all documents to support decisions, obtain approvals, and initiate action for eviction, short sales, foreclosure, or deed in lieu. Mails and follows up on all required notices regarding eviction, short sale, foreclosure, deed in lieu, or modification. Works with appropriate parties to resolve issues during final phases of short sales, foreclosure auctions, and OREOs. Liaises between third‑party mortgage servicing company and CU SoCal. Files any claims within applicable times, handles subordination requests, packages, and agreements. Reviews delinquent property tax reports and works with Members to ensure timely resolution. Receives, provides, and applies payoffs regarding consumer loan leases, second‑time deposits, HELOCs, and first‑time deposits in Symitar. Updates the Credit Bureau using reporting codes in Symitar and validates mortgage disputes in e‑Oscar. Develops or refines real‑estate loan servicing procedures to ensure efficient processes. Assists with merger due diligence: collecting, uploading, labeling documents; performing document review for late fees, payment posting, and payment calculation; collecting paper titles for vehicle loans and balances; performing system and post‑merger validations; vendor management; converting all mortgage loans to third‑party servicing in a timely manner. Understands and actively applies C.A.R.E.4 Guide expectations and Brand Communications Standards Accountability Philosophy. Must be able and available to work a hybrid schedule as required by business operations. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of mortgage servicing experience (foreclosure, short sales, deeds in lieu, etc.). 3+ years of experience collecting bad debts. Experience conducting collection efforts on multiple loan products through all delinquency ranges and online collection system. Working knowledge of bankruptcy proceedings. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent. 4+ years of collections experience. 2+ years of prior credit union experience. Skills and Abilities Proficient in all applicable MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.). Excellent oral and written communication, human relations, and negotiating skill. Working knowledge of credit and collection laws and regulations. Demonstrated skills in collection, skip tracing, small claims, bankcard, and repossession. Extensive knowledge of mortgage servicing, including foreclosure, short sales, and deeds in lieu. Experience with manual and dialer collection call‑center environments. Thorough grasp of pre‑charge‑off and charge‑off recovery methods. Pay and Benefits Pay Scale: Min. $27.12 / Mid. $34.31 / Max. $40.37 per hour.
