Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDObtain (within 6 months) or maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCABA) issued by the Board Analyst Certification Board (BACB)Complete district provided crisis intervention trainingEffective written and oral communication skillsExperience with basic curriculum knowledge including mathematics, reading, and writing in a K-12 school environment preferredSignificant experience working with students with problem behaviors including autism preferredPhysical Requirements:Be able to walk short distances to escort children between classrooms and activitiesBe able to sit, stand, lean, reach, bend, lift (<50 lbs.) and kneel to assist students and apply appropriate crisis intervention techniquesBe able to walk on uneven surfaces (playground)Be able to walk up and down stairsBe able to run on uneven surfaces (playground)Be able to run up and down stairsBe outside in all weather conditions for assigned dutyIn district travel required, reliable transportation is neededReports to:Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) and Director of Special EducationTerms of Employment:The contract length will be 185 days.Salary Schedule N.Evaluation: Based on Conway School District policy and Division of Elementary and Secondary Education guidelines, and performed by the Director of Special Education.Job Goal:The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), under the direct supervision of the Behavior Support Coordinator (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), assists in the implementation of behavior intervention programs and push-in services for students with behavioral needs with a wide variety of age ranges at various sites throughout the district, monitors and collects data on behavior, documents progress, and collaborates with school staff to coach and implement behavior interventions.Performance Responsibilities:Understand and apply the basic principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) in classroom settings as directedEffectively communicate with team membersProvide direct skills instruction to students using behavior reduction protocols based on principles of ABAAssist with the implementation and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and tiered interventions under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCBAProvide modeling and training to teachers and paraprofessionals on how to implement BIPs and interventionsAssist school teams with observations and data collection for assessments and tiered interventions as directed by a BCBACollect and monitor ongoing behavior dataImplement and promote positive behavior intervention supports throughout the District, including systems at individual school sitesAssist in creating and/or adapting classroom tasks, materials, and curriculum to meet students' educational and behavioral needsWhen necessary, provide intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviorsKnowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other special education laws, regulations and proceduresKnowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and evidence based practices and interventionsUnderstanding of and familiarity with the characteristics for a wide variety of disabilities including, but not limited to, autism, intellectual disability, emotional behavioral disorders, and ADHDKnowledge of crisis and behavior management strategies and multi-tiered systemsUnderstand the needs of students with learning, developmental, and behavioral disabilities and effectively relate to learning situationsMaintain the security and confidentiality of records and informationExercise tact, patience, courtesy, and good judgment in dealing with students and staffExercise flexibility to respond to emergency and/or unforeseen situationsOther duties as assigned
