CNC Machinist I

Job Summary The CNC Machinist assists in operating CNC equipment—including lathes, mills, and grinders—to manufacture ceramic components, supporting setup personnel and performing routine operations under guidance. Essential Functions Load and unload CNC machines safely. Run CNC jobs using pre‑programmed code. Make offsets as instructed. Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, comparators, and other tools. Report machine malfunctions or product defects. Log basic production data and complete SPC forms. Track individual production by logging in/out of the MRP/Barcode system and counting completed parts. Read and follow shop routing instructions. Assist with general machine shop duties as needed. Knowledge and Experience 0–1 year of CNC or machine operator experience; classroom CNC exposure a plus. Familiarity with measurement tools and blueprints. Basic computer skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions. Willingness to work under supervision. Working Conditions Work is performed on the shop floor, which can be noisy and dusty with occasional high temperatures. Proper safety equipment is provided by STC where necessary. Physical Demands Work involves prolonged periods of standing or sitting, repetitive tasks, occasional bending or squatting, lifting items up to 50 lbs., and pushing hand carts loaded with up to 500 lbs. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may increase stress levels. Total Rewards Compensation range: $48,000.00 – $72,000.00 USD annually, depending on experience.
