Patient Registration Representative

Our client, a healthcare organization, is looking for a patient registration representative for their Fountain Valley, CA location. Responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating behavior consistent with core values: integrity, accountability, best practices, compassion, and synergy.
• Supporting strategic plan and participating in performance improvement/patient safety activities.
• Completing all registrations of patients presenting for procedures, admissions, outpatient, and ER visits.
• Obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information so that the patient can be accurately identified and billed for their services.
• Collecting and posting the patient’s financial responsibility in Epic and immediately dropping the payment in the safe or locked cash drawer.
• Maintaining excellent customer service with all patients, visitors, clinicians, and coworkers.
• Communicating effectively in written and verbal form.
• Adhering to department policy of using two patient identifiers.
• Avoiding HIPAA violations by choosing the correct MRN and interviewing, registering, and preregistering patients timely and accurately in Epic.
• Ensuring all registration forms are complete, signed, and scanned. Entering notes in Epic as required.
• Providing excellent customer service using simply better and AIDET principles.
• Collecting and posting payments timely and accurately. Immediately dropping payment in safe or cash drawer.
• Maintaining registration accuracy rate of 95% or better.
• Monitoring and managing work queues.
• PBX: answering calls timely, professionally, and routing calls appropriately. Ability to understand and follow all emergency codes and alarm paging protocols.

Requirements include:

• General knowledge of insurance payors: PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, & CalOptima.
• General computer skills required including electronic medical record and Microsoft Office.
• One to two (1-2) years medical office/admitting/registration or equivalent healthcare experience preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish, or English/Vietnamese) preferred.
• H.S. diploma or equivalent.
• Medical terminology related course or certificate preferred.
