Learn more about us at How You Will Make an Impact The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will work with school students in screening, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders of communication. These disorders of speech and language may include issues with articulation, fluency, voice, verbal and written language, auditory comprehension, and cognition communication. This position will develop and execute specific components of a speech and language program as specified in an Individualized Educational Program (IEP). This position will attend all IEP meetings of assigned students and will make periodic reports on the progress of students. This position reports to the Area Superintendent, Director, Special Education, or their designee. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES Coordinate and/or participate in multi-disciplinary assessments of students; collaborate with other team members in the development of multi-disciplinary reports Address speech production, vocal production, and language needs of students through speech therapy Work in partnership with teachers to integrate language and communication skills into regular educational activities Document and collect data on all consultation sessions using the specified district platform and provide regular assessments including documentation progress Maintain client files and treatment logs in an organized manner to include as well as provide appropriate documentation to interdisciplinary team Conduct student screenings and/or assessments of language, voice, fluency, articulation, or hearing Develop speech and language goals and objectives and deliver speech and language services as determined by an IEP Develop and implement high quality, legally compliant IEPs Maintain compliance in assuring educational activities and services for identified students comply with established standards, requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures Attend and participate in meetings as required (team, staff, and IEP meetings) Develop instructional materials and evaluate commercially available material for treatment Keep current on the latest developments and research in the field of speech therapy including assessment, treatment, and delivery of services including teletherapy Serve as a resource person to teachers and other service providers Manage time efficiently, follow schedule and inform appropriate personnel of departures from schedule Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned, which may be changed or modified from time to time. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Knowledge of Language, Speech, and Hearing Assessments including procedures, techniques, and instrumentation, both formal and informal, used to assess the speech and language status of children and the implications of speech/language disorders in a school or educational setting. Knowledge of Federal and State Education Codes, including K–12 and Public Charter School laws and governance. Understanding of Independent Study, Personalized Learning, and Distance Learning models. Knowledge of high school credits, graduation requirements, academic interventions, and alternative education programs. Ability to work with students who display speech and language and communication deficits, students with special needs. Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives using logic and reasoning. Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in challenging situations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from an accredited institution required AND Valid California Preliminary/Clear Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Services Credential required; or Valid License issued by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board AND eligible for a Certificate of Clearance issued by CTC; or Currently enrolled in an approved SLP Services Credential program AND eligible for a state-issued Waiver. Working knowledge of K-12 instruction, business, and human resource functions within California is preferred. Proficient level in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Education and Student Information Systems. Ability to travel in the performance of the job duties. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Vision: Ability to read small prints and view a computer screen for prolong periods, prepare, or inspect documents and operate office equipment. Hearing: Ability to hear average or typical conversations and receive ordinary information. Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communication, in person or remote, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer. Mental Demands: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Frequent multitasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work. Understand how to manage stress. low workflow management, medium project coordination, and high people engagement. Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together, use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head. Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
