Registered Nurse GraduateThe Registered Nurse Graduate is responsible for providing safe, patient-centered care under the supervision of an experienced RN. This role supports the transition to professional practice through hands-on experience while developing clinical skills, judgment, and communication within a team-based environment.Essential Functions:Maintains a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment in pre-operative, post-operative, and observation/inpatient areasPerforms focused patient assessments and contributes to ongoing evaluation of patient statusMonitors patients and promptly reports changes in condition to the RN, physician, or appropriate team memberAssists in admitting, preparing, and recovering patients undergoing proceduresAdministers medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, organizational policy, and under appropriate supervisionProvides basic patient and family education, reinforcing instructions related to procedures, recovery, and dischargeParticipates in the development and implementation of individualized care plansEnsures required documentation (consents, test results, history and physical) is complete prior to proceduresDocuments patient care accurately, timely, and in accordance with policyPerforms pre-operative and post-operative patient follow-up calls as directedCommunicates effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team membersProvides emotional support to patients and families to reduce anxiety and promote comfortParticipates in discharge planning by identifying patient needs and communicating them to the care teamMaintains patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policiesAdheres to all safety protocols, reports hazards or incidents promptly, and supports a culture of safetyUtilizes downtime effectively and assists team members to support workflow and patient care needsDemonstrates professionalism and adherence to organizational standards of conductPerforms other related tasks as neededKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Developing proficiency in the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluationDemonstrates emerging critical thinking and clinical judgment skills, seeking guidance as neededRecognizes changes in patient condition and appropriately escalates concernsBuilds competency in medication administration and clinical proceduresLearns to prioritize and organize patient care responsibilities effectivelyDemonstrates willingness to learn, accept feedback, and apply new knowledge in practiceAdapts to changing patient needs, workflows, and clinical environmentsMaintains composure and professionalism in high-stress or fast-paced situationsDemonstrates attention to detail in patient care and documentationDevelops effective communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team membersDemonstrates basic computer skills, including use of electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft OfficeWorks with increasing independence while recognizing limits and seeking assistance appropriatelyPractices within the scope of the Texas Nurse Practice Act and adheres to ethical and professional standardsEducation and Experience:Associates Degree in NursingRegistered Nurse in the State of TexasBasic Life Support certified
