Work Schedule: 8:30 am to 5 pm (M-F), includes some evenings and Saturdays

 

Job Summary

The Associate Director of Conservatory Admission reports to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services and works closely with the Dean of the Conservatory of Performing Arts to develop and implement recruitment strategies that support Conservatory enrollment goals. This position participates in the full range of undergraduate admission responsibilities, with primary responsibility for recruitment, enrollment, and outreach efforts for the Conservatory of Performing Arts.

Responsibilities include territory management; travel to secondary schools, college fairs, and recruitment events; interviewing prospective students and families; application review; enrollment counseling; event and audition planning/execution; and executing strategic initiatives that support Conservatory enrollment objectives. The Associate Director provides leadership for assigned programs and projects, and collaborates with campus partners to ensure an exceptional prospective student experience.

The position assists with enrollment planning and analysis related to Conservatory recruitment efforts and serves as a visible representative of the University both on and off campus.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities

• Interview and counsel prospective Conservatory students and their families throughout the admission process.
• Develop and implement recruitment strategies designed to achieve Conservatory enrollment goals.
• Collaborate extensively with Conservatory faculty regarding specific recruitment strategies for particular academic programs.
• Manage assigned recruitment territories, including travel to secondary schools, community colleges, college fairs, auditions, and related programs.
• Coordinate and support Conservatory-specific recruitment events, audition days, visit programs, and yield activities.
• Review applications and participate in the evaluation, selection, and management of applicants.
• Analyze recruitment and enrollment data to inform territory management and enrollment strategies.
• Responsible for executing and monitoring assigned recruitment travel and event budgets in strict alignment with established institutional allocations and University financial policies.
• Serve as the primary liaison to Conservatory faculty to coordinate talent evaluations, align audition standards with enrollment needs, and manage post-audition follow-up.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate student admissions ambassadors, student audition coordinators, and/or designated professional staff.
• Maintain knowledge of admission trends, best practices, and Conservatory recruitment strategies.
• Adhere to all University and departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of previous middle-management college admission experience required, with 6+ years of total admission experience; management/supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of Conservatory, music, performing arts, theatre, or specialized academic recruitment preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies and enrollment initiatives.
• Excellent public speaking, communication, customer service, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with prospective students, families, faculty, alumni, and external partners.
• Commitment to the mission and value of a liberal arts education.
• Ability to travel extensively for recruiting purposes and work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, CRM systems, student information systems, and enrollment technology platforms.
• Experience supervising staff and/or student employees preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Other than admission travel responsibilities, work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Limited physical effort required. No or limited exposure to physical risk.

Conditions of Employment 

• Must successfully pass a background check.

• Must possess and maintain valid driver's license, pass the University’s Van Skills Class, and maintain insurability under the University’s vehicle insurance plan

• Ability to travel extensively for recruiting purposes and work evenings and weekends as needed.
