Water Wastewater Project Engineer

Role description: Arcadis is looking for a Water Wastewater Project Engineer to join our growing team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The candidate in this role will provide technical expertise and leadership to our team of highly skilled engineers, while leading tasks/projects simultaneously and applying technical knowledge to develop the team’s overall capabilities. Projects will include water/wastewater engineering, investigations, studies, analysis, designs, and construction administration services. Role accountabilities The Water Wastewater Project Engineer will evaluate, plan, design, permit and support management of projects for water/wastewater and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities). Other projects may include asset management, distribution system improvement projects, hydraulic modeling, conveyance-related construction projects, pump station rehabilitation, gravity sewer main rehabilitation construction projects, inflow and infiltration assessment and reduction programs, water treatment and reclamation. Support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to requests for information (RFIs) and permit closeouts. Execute water and wastewater projects through planning, design, and construction phases, overseeing the development of design calculations, technical report sections, technical design drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation of project requirements. Support preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials; actively participate in client meetings to foster effective client communication and project alignment. Ensure project compliance with Arcadis practices and maintain quality, health, and safety standards; facilitate coordination for timely project completion within budget constraints to meet milestones. Work independently and collaboratively across geographically distributed teams; supervise and support others and mentor junior-level engineering and design/drafting staff. Travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, planning, or overseeing construction activities based on staffing needs. Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications 5 years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain in 6 months. Preferred Qualifications 8 years of relevant water/wastewater experience. PE License. Experience in design or consulting engineering or municipal work environment. Project task leadership experience including managing overall project delivery expectations, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $152,000/year.
