The Associate Director, Tax Transfer Pricing will provide technical and operational leadership for AbbVie's global transfer pricing processes. This role is responsible for establishing, supporting, and implementing global transfer pricing policies and ensuring compliance with global transfer pricing reporting obligations. In addition, the Associate Director will provide support for transfer pricing tax planning and controversy as well as other special projects as required. This position will also team with the International Tax Operations group providing support for international tax components of the U.S. federal income tax return. The Associate Director should be able to independently identify issues raised by stakeholders and to provide accurate and timely advice.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and manage global transfer pricing policies, operational transfer pricing, documentation, and compliance in accordance with tax laws and regulations.
• Participate in analysis of current and future transfer pricing strategies to help mitigate risk, optimize efficiency, and facilitate future business operations.
• Ensure that intercompany price establishment, intercompany price changes, legal entity profitability adjustments, documentation and controversy support are coordinated to deliver established policy objectives.
• Work closely with the International Tax Operations team supporting the team in the preparation of the international tax components of the U.S. federal income tax return and other U.S. and foreign compliance and reporting requirements.
• Lead significant aspects of transfer pricing audits in US and globally and provide technical support to local tax teams on all aspects of transfer pricing.
• Work closely with Tax Planning and non-tax business personnel on restructuring and integration efforts, business policies or issues with transfer pricing implications.
• Manage transfer pricing matters for acquisition integration, divestiture analysis, and IP and other valuations in connection with M&A and tax planning initiatives.
• Support Finance, Operations, and IT in transfer pricing policy implementation in systems and business processes.
• Interface with Tax Accounting on interim and annual tax provision and reporting matters.
• Conduct detailed financial and economic analyses and advise on intercompany transactions (structure and pricing).
• Assist in the ongoing education of appropriate personnel in other Tax teams as well as Finance and businesses regarding Transfer Pricing requirements and risks.
• Assist in understanding and analyzing impacts from global and US tax reform initiatives.
• Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement in the transfer pricing reporting environment.
• Support process improvement initiatives and tax technology implementations to increase overall efficiency of the transfer pricing end to end process.
• Train, mentor, and develop transfer pricing direct reports and other team members.

Qualifications include:

• 10+ years of relevant experience focused on transfer pricing, tax planning, and/or controversy from a large public accounting firm and/or in-house experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a similar field
• A Master's degree in Finance, Economics or Taxation or a Juris Doctor is preferred
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to collaborate as part of a team
• People management experience
• Resourcefulness and adaptability; self-motivated with ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
• Ability to explain complex transfer pricing concepts to non-tax stakeholders
• Proficiency with Excel; experience with Alteryx, Copilot, Claude, PaPM, Tax Technology tools and SAP a plus

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
