Phlebotomist

Job Summary Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain specimens for laboratory testing. Transport, process, and perform clerical duties as needed for testing on patient samples. Responsibilities Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods. Draw blood specimens from patients using finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required. Label specimens accurately and enter specimen data into the computer. Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments. Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls. Licensure / Certification / Registration High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required, or certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience. Acute‑care hospital experience strongly preferred. Skilled phlebotomy technique and BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
