Overview

Position Summary

Provide pediatric therapy to children ages 0-15 with a variety of diagnoses. Services may be delivered in our outpatient clinic and early intervention classrooms. The therapist is responsible for administering a range of pediatric assessments, treatment planning, documentation, and delivery of therapy. 

Organization Description

United Services for Children is a nonprofit organization that provides pediatric therapy and early intervention services to children of all abilities and offers support services for their families. Located at 3420 Harry S. Truman Parkway, St. Charles, MO 63301.

Working Conditions

Everyday conditions are in normal classroom/office environments at the agency.

Must be able to: 

• Frequently maneuver between classrooms, therapy rooms, offices
• Converse in person and via the telephone
• Observe and respond to the physical/emotional needs or behaviors of the child
• Use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, position, and manipulate objects such as buttons, fasteners, and diaper tabs
• Be able to reach up to 18 inches horizontally and vertically
• Readily attain various positions (i.e. floor, small chair, etc.) to work with children
• Bend stoop, or squat to retrieve items from the floor
• Sit at a table/desk for a minimum of one hour and up to three hours
• Safely lift, carry, or move 10 lbs consistently and up to 45 lbs occasionally

Be able to push and pull up to 25 lbs frequently

Requirements

Responsibilities

The OT must:

• Provide direct occupational therapy intervention with outcomes based on optimizing function
• Provide a variety of specific and appropriate screenings and evaluations
• Record and evaluate findings to establish or revise treatment plans using documentation software. 
• Plan and provide individualized services based on information obtained from the evaluation procedure
• Routinely evaluate the effects of the treatment modalities and adjusts them accordingly
• Review medical history to aid in performing treatment procedures and ensure compliance with safety precautions
• Comply with HIPAA guidelines
• Collaborate with other therapists for assessment and treatment planning
• Follow through with collaborate recommendations and processes
• Train, supervise, and evaluate COTAs
• Provide in-service training to agency personnel in their area of expertise
• Complete all required documentation per agency and health provider guidelines
• Model a standard of behavior consistent with agency expectations at all times

Other duties may be assigned.

Education Qualifications

National certification by the NBCOT, a valid Missouri state license

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of three years’ experience in pediatrics preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable of service delivery models for OT. Must understand and be familiar with HIPPA and insurance requirements for the delivery of outpatient services and be able to deliver occupational therapy services.

Skills: Requires organizational skills to manage multiple projects, assess current needs, and plan for the future. Must be able to research and incorporate findings into practice, articulate thoughts/ideas for general understanding, coach employees for performance, and value others’ strengths and contributions. Must be able to supervise others. 

Abilities: Must be able to establish rapport with children and co-workers and work as a member of a professional team. Must be able to adapt to new opportunities and challenges with positivity. Must be able to keep the mission of the organization at the center of all decisions and duties.
