Job Type: Regular Position Overview The Safety Specialist will assist the Safety Manager/Plant Director with site safety programs in Lake Norden, South Dakota. This role requires developing, delivering, and maintaining safety training and compliance activities, conducting inspections, and supporting incident investigations and corrective actions. Benefits and Compensation Salary range $69,500 – $86,900 Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday 7am‑4pm with flexibility as needed Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Short and Long‑term Disability Insurance 401(k) with 7% company contributions 3 weeks Paid Time Off, paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays Paid parental leave Advancement Opportunities Responsibilities Assist with new employee safety orientation and safety training programs. Create and maintain written safety programs and maintain documentation, permits, certifications, and databases. Direct, manage, identify, and audit systems associated with plant and health & safety compliance. Ensure compliance with local, state, federal regulations such as OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI. Lead site safety and compliance programs by delivering OSHA, DOT, and company-required training and employee orientations. Drive workplace safety initiatives through inspections, PPE and SDS program management, and support safety committees. Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and environmental events, perform root cause analysis, and partner with leadership to implement corrective actions. Support employee health and risk management activities, including workers’ compensation administration, return‑to‑work programs, claims management, and coordination of specialized safety programs. Implement corrective actions from inspections and audits. Provide input to Engineering on projects concerning safety and equipment selection. Manage all aspects of DOT driver program. Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field (preferred). Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. Minimum two (2) years of experience in safety and health work. Minimum two (2) years within a similar manufacturing environment. Dairy experience preferred; food/beverage manufacturing and dairy safety background highly preferred. Knowledge and experience of First Aid, Confined Space entry, LOTO, Process Safety Management, and classroom instruction.
