Custodian

Job Overview The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. Roles & Responsibilities Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule. Perform hazardous waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste. Operate motorized cleaning equipment. Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area. Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor. Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures. Stop at risk behavior of others and self. Perform work assignments in a team with other employees. Maintain clean work area. Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules. Take direction and respond to supervision. Talk with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner. Fill in during staff shortage. Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items. Use proper personal protective equipment. Present a professional appearance and conduct. Understand customer service and satisfaction. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform this job safely. Education and/or Experience: No specific education requirement, 3‑6 months training/experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: May be required to have a valid driver’s license. Completed all safety and task training certifications. May be required to be forklift certified. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bilingual a plus. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with team. Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment. Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands & Work Environment Must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Frequent sitting, talking, or listening. Compensation & Shift Monday to Friday and alternate Saturdays, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. $15.50–$16.50 per hour. Benefits SBM offers comprehensive benefit packages.
