Schedule: Full Time Positions Available: 1 Job Location Type: On-site Job Location: Blue Mountain Hospital, John Day, OR Position Summary The speech Language Pathologist will perform duties as assigned for improving a patient’s function in speech/language, oral/fascial musculature and structure, cognitive skills, voice, fluency, breathing and/or swallowing abilities to maximum potential. The SLP will provide this treatment per physician’s order and coordinate therapeutic activities with the patient, caregiver, and other health care disciplines. As a Speech Language Pathologist at Blue Mountain Hospital District (BMHD) you will have the opportunity to work in outpatient and inpatient settings and grow the program! You will join the rehabilitation department and work with SLP, occupational and physical therapy services. In all settings you will work one on one with your patients and will have time built into your schedule for documentation. We are looking for an SLP who is passionate about their profession and growing access to SLP services in Grant County. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Evaluates patient’s communication/articulation, physical, cognitive, breathing, swallowing status, functional abilities and age specific needs of patients to determine the current level of functioning, self‑care, self‑responsibility, independence, and quality of life. Develops and implements a treatment plan which involves the patient, family, and social support system. Identifies and provides skilled interventions to reach achievable goals, coordinates and collaborates on treatment options, advocates enhancing patient’s social support systems. Provides medically necessary treatments based on established departmental guidelines and protocols. Provides ongoing assessment and analysis of patient functioning and progress. This therapy involves providing treatment which takes into account the risks and benefits of that treatment regime relevant to the patient’s medical condition, rehabilitation potential and prognosis. Provides timely and complete documentation following department guidelines and compliance requirements. Follows any indicated HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid as well as state, organizational and department rules. Coordinates therapy activities with other health care disciplines. This includes coordinating services through consultation with appropriate agencies to ensure follow‑up and continuing care as needed. Participates in quality and performance improvement activities within the department including but not limited to measurement and continuous improvement of clinical competency, regulatory compliance, outcome achievement, resource management, work team performance and customer satisfaction. As necessary or applicable, supervises CFY temporary licensees, students and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards. Able to successfully prioritize when faced with requests, demands and deadlines. Must be detail‑oriented and able to perform within scope of practice. Proven ability to communicate effectively, both in written and oral form. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Proven ability to work as part of a team. Working knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, CMS, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs), and continued readiness related to healthcare or hospital standard Able to successfully prioritize when faced with requests, demands and deadlines. Knowledge of customer service concepts. Expresses excellent judgment, discretion and decision‑making abilities. Maintains a sensitive, fair and impartial approach to dealing with employees. Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience. Education & Experience Requirements Master’s Degree Graduate of an accredited school of speech language pathology Preferred Working experience in hospital inpatient and outpatient settings Certification & Licensure Requirements Required Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by American Heart Association (AHA).
