Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Gastroenterology

Description

 This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality gastroenterology care within a dynamic medical practice setting, serving patients with a wide range of digestive system conditions.

As a Locum Gastroenterologist, you will conduct patient evaluations, diagnose and manage gastrointestinal disorders, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures, and collaborate with the medical team to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. This Associate-level contract role is ideal for physicians seeking flexible, impactful clinical work within the medical practice industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and gastroenterology consultations
• Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal and hepatic conditions
• Perform and interpret endoscopic and diagnostic procedures
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients
• Document patient encounters accurately in electronic health records
• Collaborate with primary care providers and other specialists
• Provide patient education on digestive health and preventive care
• Adhere to clinical guidelines, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the practice
• Ensure timely follow-up and continuity of care for patients

Requirements

• Valid MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Completed residency and gastroenterology fellowship training
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the required state
• Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
• Proficiency in advanced endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy and EGD
• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff
• Experience with electronic health record systems
• Preferred: Prior locum or contract experience in outpatient or hospital settings
• Preferred: Familiarity with medical practice operations and multidisciplinary care teams

Schedule: Monday-Friday (7a-5p), 1 week/month

Call Requirement: Friday 4:30p – Monday 7:30a, 1 weekend/month

Setting: Inpatient

Patient Volume: 10-15 per day

Support Staff: APP

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

Additional Certifications: ACLS and BLS
