Medical Laboratory Technician I

Job Description Supports high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. Prepares specimens for testing, performs routine laboratory tests, performs quality control and maintenance procedures, recognizes computer data problems, troubleshoots laboratory instruments, communicates technical information to medical and lay persons, assists with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures, participates in continuing education, recognizes normal and abnormal values, and models Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities. Responsibilities Perform a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepare specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operate automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Perform quality control and assurance procedures. Record lab results in the specified system. Follow all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards. Qualifications Education: Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Experience: None. Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent.
