Environmental Compliance Specialist

The Environmental Compliance Specialist, located in our Columbus, OH plant, is responsible for ensuring that the facility’s compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations/agencies by developing and implementing environmental programs and overseeing our Industrial Wastewater Program. You will research environmental risks, investigate complaints, and develop strategies to control pollution, manage hazardous materials, and improve overall environmental quality. Primary Responsibilities:Industrial Wastewater Treatment: Will oversee all aspects of Industrial Wastewater System, including operating/monitoring, sampling & recordkeeping, maintaining/troubleshooting, and compliance of systems and programs. Inspections and audits: Conduct regular inspections of facilities and processes to identify and correct potential environmental hazards.Risk assessment: Identify and evaluate potential health and environmental hazards and assess the effectiveness of control mechanisms.Regulatory compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety laws.Emergency preparedness: Play a role in emergency response planning and disaster recovery efforts.Program development: Create, implement, and monitor Environmental Health policies and programs.Training and education: Develop and provide best practices to employees on topics such as emergency response and regulatory requirements.Reporting: Maintain records and prepare reports for regulatory compliance.Required Experience/Qualifications:A minimum of 2 years of Environmental Health work experience in a manufacturing facility is required. A bachelor's degree in a related field (such as Environmental Health) may help compensate for some experience.Experience operating industrial wastewater pretreatment systems, includingKnowledge of wastewater treatment principles, including pH adjustment, chemical precipitation, and oil separationAbility to conduct basic laboratory testing and interpret resultsExperience working with and reporting to Federal and State (OSHA, EPA/DEP, etc.) agencies, including a solid understanding of their associated regulations and standardsExperience with Hazardous Waste Management, including permitting for Air, Stormwater, and Industrial Water DischargeCertifications in Environmental Health & Safety related programs preferredIntermediate computer skills, including, but not limited to, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and WordExceptional reading comprehension and attention to detail to manage documentation and ensure complianceStrong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to address unique environmental challengesExcellent communication skillsDemonstrated ability to grow and accept challengesAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionBilingual (English & Spanish) is highly preferred, but not required, to present information clearly and train our diverse workforce Mauser Packaging Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
