Direct Support Professional 2 (DSP 2)

Summary The Direct Support Professional will provide support and assistance to people with developmental,physical, and psychiatric disabilities in residential programs. Duties include daily intervention, supervision, and skills training in activities of daily living (ADLs) within a home environment and throughout the community. The role may require physical assistance, accommodation, and specialized training such as PABC or ABA techniques, focusing on behavioral support and enhanced medical care. Schedule Tuesday – Friday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours) Essential Duties And Responsibilities Provide support and assist people with ADL skills during day, evening, and overnight hours based on shift assignment. Create opportunities for decision making and skill development to foster independence. Deliver services in compliance with DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, CARF, and Bridgewell policies. Assist with medical, clinical, and financial needs. Transport and accompany clients to medical and recreational activities. Maintain progress notes, shift checklists, and documentation per regulatory and Bridgewell standards. Conduct household cleaning duties as assigned. Execute steady‑care calls per guidelines (for overnight shifts). Help clients access community resources and recreational opportunities. Administer medications according to MAP regulations when applicable. Maintain mandatory training certifications such as FA/CPR, PABC, and MAP. Maintain additional mandated certifications as required by program or Bridgewell policies. Build positive relationships with guardians, family, and stakeholders. Serve as Fire Safety Officer, Safety Coordinator, or Human Rights Officer as designated. Comply with Bridgewell Safety Checks Policy. Attend program staff and supervision meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education / Experience High school diploma or GED; or at least 5 years of verified experience in a similar role. Minimum of 1 year experience working with people with developmental or psychiatric disabilities (preferred). Required Skills / Knowledge Excellent written and oral communication skills for clear documentation. Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities. Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and web‑based applications. Valid U.S. driver's license and at least 1 year of driving experience; ability to operate a large and/or wheelchair van. Physical Demands Work involves maneuvering clients of varying weights, providing lifting, balanced support, and physical intervention. Additional lifting or movement may be required during daily living activities. The employee must be able to climb stairs, assist with bathroom routines, and operate a 12‑passenger van. Climb stairs and physically assist clients, sometimes weighing over 200 lbs. Assist with bathroom use, shower entry/exit, wheelchairs, and other physical interventions.
