Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The Fiber/Cable Market Intelligence Manager leads analysis of fiber and cable market trends across products, applications, regions and customer segments. Working closely with Competitive Intelligence, Forecasting & Data Intellignece and Commerical, Regional & Engineering Services Intelligence, you will define key business questions, structure the analysis, synthesize inputs and communicate clear conclusions.

This role requires the ability to integrate multiple sources of information-including external research, internal data, customer and field intelligence, competitor activity, pricing trends, capacity developments and technology changes - into a coherent market perspective. Success in the role depends on strong analytical judgement, cross-functional collaboration and the ability to communicate decision-ready insights to leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead market intelligence and strategic analysis focused on fiber, cable, and carrier market views across COC segments, regions, and applications.
• Take assigned business questions from problem definition through executive communication, including defining the approach, coordinating inputs, and driving the work to a clear conclusion.
• Develop and maintain market perspectives on fiber and cable demand, supply, competitive positioning, pricing dynamics, customer behavior, and technology evolution.
• Synthesize external research, internal data, customer and field intelligence, competitor developments, macroeconomic indicators, channel signals, manufacturing trends, and business perspectives.
• Build clear and defensible points of view by reconciling conflicting signals, assessing evidence quality, identifying assumptions, and applying sound judgment under uncertainty.
• Develop market frameworks, segmentation structures, demand-driver models, and assumptions that improve COC understanding of market size, growth, risks, opportunities, and inflection points within fiber and cable markets.
• Monitor and interpret industry developments such as new capacity announcements, raw material trends, pricing changes, policy shifts, regional demand patterns, and emerging technologies impacting fiber and cable demand.
• Partner with Forecasting & Data Intelligence through critical review, helping reconcile strategic market perspectives with bottoms-up, top-down, and AI-driven forecasts.
• Lead cross-functional integration for assigned analyses and determine where additional expertise from product line management, commercial teams, operations, engineering, supply chain, technology, or regional partners is required.
• Communicate and defend decision-grade conclusions to COC and business-unit leaders, including the evidence, uncertainty, implications, and recommended actions or watchpoints.
• Use and help improve AI-enabled research and analytical tools while remaining accountable for validation, interpretation, and business judgment.
• Contribute to a One-COC intelligence model by determining when this role should lead an output and when its work should support a broader integrated BI deliverable.

Required Education

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related discipline
• Strong background in market intelligence, strategic analysis, product/market management, economics, supply-demand analysis, strategy, or a related analytical field
• Demonstrated ability to independently structure and lead complex analyses from problem definition through executive communication
• Strong understanding of fiber, cable, telecommunications infrastructure, connectivity markets, manufacturing economics, or related industrial and technology sectors
• Ability to synthesize large volumes of quantitative and qualitative information into a coherent and actionable point of view
• Strong business judgment and comfort making recommendations when information is incomplete, ambiguous, or conflicting

Desired Experiences

• Master of Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited institution
• Experience analyzing industry demand, market pricing, industry capacity, competitive dynamics, and customer requirements
• Credibility and business relevance of market perspectives on fiber, cable, and carrier industry dynamics
• Effectiveness in converting ambiguous questions, fragmented information, and conflicting signals into clear conclusions and recommended areas of action
• Demonstrated influence of analyses on COC strategy, planning, investment decisions, product positioning, supply planning, and commercial prioritization
• Quality and defensibility of analytical frameworks, assumptions, conclusions, and executive recommendations

The range for this position is $145,811.00 - $200,491.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
