Essential Job Responsibilities or the Registered Nurse (RN): Assess the health care needs of the resident, make a nursing diagnosis, and transition this, through collaboration with the nursing team, into an interdisciplinary plan of care utilizing all available resources. Communicate this plan to all care providers to ensure continuity of care for the resident. Apply a broad scope of knowledge to address the needs of medically complex and mentally compromised residents. Establish and maintain functional communication with staff, other disciplines, residents, families, medical staff, and the community. Administer medications and treatments according to standards of practice. Document care and treatment information accurately and timely, maintaining center records in accordance with center, state, and federal requirements. Complete documentation that supports the MDS and MMQ process to ensure center compliance. Assess the effect of medications and treatments, monitor these effects, and provide appropriate feedback to interdisciplinary team and medical managers to continuously deliver treatment tailored to individual resident needs. Lead and direct nursing staff in the safe, effective delivery of care by providing structure; educate residents regarding their healthcare issues and care plan strategies. Apply knowledge regarding the protection of resident rights and reinforce respectful, dignified treatment of residents, staff, and the community. Treat resident and facility property and information with honesty, confidentiality, and respect. Remain up to date on required educational components and pursue skill growth independently, including state CEU requirements. Qualifications of the Registered Nurse (RN): Current, unencumbered license as an RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Proficiency in basic computer skills. Strong attention to detail.
