Shift Lead

Job Description Opens and closes the store in the absence of store management, including system start‑ups, cash handling, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day. Responsible for opening the back door for deliveries. Completes product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provides change as requested to cash registers. Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Customer Experience Engages customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves issues and answers questions to ensure a positive experience. Shares best customer‑service practices with all team members, including greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and proactive help. Operations Hold store keys to open and close without management as necessary. Coaches team members on warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including opening the backdoor for deliveries. Registers all sales on the assigned cash register, recording scanning errors, price verifications, and voids. Assists manager in reviewing order exceptions on release day and reverse logistics. Assists manager in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional and seasonal merchandise. Completes resets and revisions. Maintains accurate inventory counts for all departments. Ensures the Outdate program is followed with team members. Handles basic department pricing and daily price changes; ensures proper signage for accurate pricing. Performs bookkeeping activities such as cash reports, ledgers, and bill payment as requested. Maintains exterior and interior store conditions and coordinates repairs as needed. Separates food items (raw from cooked) and manages product placement per policy. Uses first‑in, first‑out for consumables. Has working knowledge of store systems and equipment. Assists at the pharmacy out window when requested. Complies with state and local laws regarding regulated products. Conducts bag checks of team members before leaving the store. Complies with all company policies and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers. Completes special assignments as assigned. Training & Personal Development Attends required training and completes PPLs as requested by Manager. Communications Acts as liaison between management and non‑management team members, communicating tasks when store management is absent. Reports disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management. External Basic Qualifications One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of store inventory control. Consideration of candidates with arrest and conviction records.
