Experienced Registered Nurse (RN-OR) Opportunity

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in the Operating Room (RN-OR) for a contract position serving multiple campus locations in a busy, Level I Trauma environment. This opportunity is ideal for candidates located at least 50 miles outside the local radius, and offers exposure to diverse surgical specialties, robust technology, and high-volume cases.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Hours: 36-40 hours/week (OT considered after 40 hours), call required (weekend call from end-of-shift Friday through Monday morning 6:30am)
• Must work 12 of 3 major upcoming Winter holidays, unless unit is closed
• Traveler will float between various campuses as needed
• Average 3550 cases per day, 16 OR suites (1214 in routine operation)
• Scrub uniforms provided

Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of current operating room RN experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Prior circulating/OR experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I highly preferred
• Direct experience in General, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required; additional specialty experience (Neuro, ortho trauma, gynecology, urology, transplant, plastics, ENT, vascular) highly valued
• Active Iowa RN or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• Previous travel RN assignment within past 15 months (no first-time travelers)
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR system within last 3 years
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC required
• Submission requirements include a detailed resume with two years of recent OR experience, documented license, driver's license, and recent professional reference (preferred from charge personnel, nurse manager, or above)

Responsibilities

• Perform both scrub and circulate roles as needed in high-acuity surgical suites
• Maintain patient ratios at 1:1 for complex, trauma, and specialized cases
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams across service lines: cardiac, neuro, ortho, robotics, general, gyn, uro, peds, transplants, ENT, and plastics
• Uphold best practices for rapid turnovers and quality surgical outcomes

$2,993 - $3,155/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 40 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
